Q-- What is a
CurbVault®?
A CurbVault® is an anti-theft /
anti-vandal receptacle built to protect your mail or
personal property deposited by the Postal Service, a private
carrier, or any other agency or individual. The
CurbVault is elegantly designed to complement the most
beautiful of homes.The CurbVault® is
excellent for use in commercial applications in protecting your
mail and 'non-mail' items, important documents, payments or
items dropped of after business hours by your employees,
representatives or clients.
Q--Why do I need a CurbVault®?
Mail theft and identity theft via the mailbox has now
reached epidemic proportions and the threat continue to
rise! Mailbox vandalism is also a growing concern.
The CurbVault® protects you from
identity theft and vandalism. It's heavy steel
construction is a deterrent to would-be thieves and vandals.
It provides you with peace of mind that your personal
information is not being plundered while you're away.
CurbVault® also offers the advantage of
having a much greater storage capacity
than your conventional mailbox. When on an extended
vacation, you can relax knowing that your mail is safely
stored in a deadbolt secured receptacle. As a drop
point for carriers other than the Postal Service delivering
packages, the CurbVault® offers you convenience and reduces
the risk of your items being stolen if they were simply left
at the door.
Q--Where and how is a CurbVault®
installed?
Your CurbVault® is installed at the same
location as that of any conventional, curbside mailbox,
whether on ground, concrete, or asphalt. Installation
is SIMPLE enough for any able-bodied person, provided that
the instructions are followed from inside the product's
supplied owner's manual.
When used as a dropbox for packages or
non-mail items, the CurbVault® may be installed away from the
road and closer to your home or business office.
Q--How is CurbVault better than a
brick enclosure?
Brick enclosures are now being banned by the
D.O.T. in many areas of the country due to the potential
hazard of being struck by a vehicle. Automobile
collisions involving these types of structures can be very
serious or even fatal. This can create tremendous
liabilities for the homeowner.
The CurbVault has a
hidden in-ground mount that is designed to break-away upon
impact; greatly reducing the risk of serious injury,
and the related homeowner's liabilities.
Conventional brick enclosures offer
practically no security and very little capacity for large
or accumulated volumes of mail. CurbVault® on the other hand provides
excellent security and large storage capacity.

Q--What is the 'catch tray' used for and where is it located?
The purpose of the catch tray which is
located inside the back door, is to stop and hold the mail before
it reaches the vault's floor. This reduces bending over when
retrieving mail from the rear, away from traffic. However,
when excessive volumes of mail are expected to accumulate, as when
a trip is taken, removal of this tray is recommended.
Q--How does the converter tray work and
where is it located?
During normal anti-theft modes, the
front converter shelf (located inside the front door) is used for
outgoing mail (or for outgoing non-mail items in commercial drop
vaults) when the flag is raised. In this mode, retrieval
must be made from the rear using the key or optional key pad.
Retrieval can be made from the front by removing
the converter shelf, turning it around, and re-inserting it as
instructed in the owner's manual. However, in this position,
the CurbVault® offers no protection from theft! This
converter position is intended for people who prefer to 'drive up'
and retrieve their mail (or commercial vault material) without
getting out of the car, and only use the anti-theft and storage
feature part-time; as when an extended trip is taken.
Q--What colors are offered and how
durable is the finish?
We offer a variety of basic colors,
including black, white, silver vein, and copper
vein. Other colors, including custom colors
may be available upon request with volume orders. The CurbVault® features a baked
on power coated finish, which is the most durable coating that
today's technology can produce. Under normal use, this
finish should last for many years, retaining it's beauty. If
the existing color is changed, a good rust preventative enamel is
recommended.
Q--What about the warranty, parts and
accessories?
The CurbVault® carries a lifetime
replacement warranty on the structure itself under normal wear and
tear. The lock and gold plated handle carry a one-year
replacement warranty. All parts and accessory items such as
inside lighting, key pad locks, numbers plates; and attaching
newspaper bins of 1/8" steel, are available for purchase.
